Honda is known for bringing some of today's most efficient vehicles to Nalley Honda Brunswick in Brunswick, Georgia. But today, the same gas sipping and hybrid models are heading to China, a place where the fuel efficient vehicles are very much needed.
With a population exceeding 1 billion, China has some of the lowest air quality in the world. In an effort to change this, Honda Motor Co. is shipping over the greenest variants of their most modern cars.
Honda anticipates they will sell more fuel efficient models in China starting early 2012 in an effort to improve sales and fall within China's new emission standards. The automaker is not only planning on introducing China to three hybrid models, but also plans to increase funding for research and development in the country.
Two variants that will without a doubt win over Chinese drivers are the Honda Civic CNG (compressed natural gas) and the Honda Fit EV, which is only offered in Japan.
"China's emission standards will be one of the strictest in the world going forward," Seiji Kuraishi, Head of China operations, said recently. "If we don't increase the number of green cars here, it would be hard to grow sales."1
