Honda Plant in Indiana Creates 1,000 New Jobs

In a time of economic crisis, the creation of new jobs is vital. Those in the Greensburg, Indiana area will be happy to hear that Honda Manufacturing of Indiana, LLC (HMIN) is about to employ 1,000 new team members. Why bring so many more workers on board? The added manpower will run a second production shift and help HMIN reach its full potential of 200,000-units.

While such an expansion is impressive for any company, it is especially so for Honda considering the company's recent challenge. After the earthquake and tsunami hit Japan last March, the slowed exportation of Honda parts forced U.S. plants to slow down as well. But a strong company never stays down long. All seven of the plants have been restored to normal productivity level and now, as demonstrated by HMIN, Honda is back to exceeding its standards. Not only that, but the Indiana plant, which produces the Honda Civic sedan and Civic Natural Gas, has also received a platinum award for quality from J.D. Power and Associates.

"We are taking an important step forward in the realization of our dream," HMIN President Jun Nishimoto stated in a recent press release. "Our associates have made this one of the highest quality plants in the world, and now we have the opportunity to share their commitment to excellence with even more Honda customers. It's a great day for Honda in Indiana."1

Often times, expansion in one area of business depends upon increase in another. In this case, HMIN growth has prompted new growth opportunities for parts suppliers across the country and beyond. HMIN Civics are comprised of engines and parts from Kentucky, Michigan, Texas, Tennessee, Ohio, Canada, and more.
